Valbarossa Hawkeye is a antagonist turned supporting character from Raiden V.
History[]
Vanessa was an orphan who lived on the streets, living from stealing from adults, whom she deeply loathed due to the way they treated her. One day, however, she attempted to steal from a man in an harbor, but the man easily subjugated her. To her surprise, when a crowd began forming around them and threatened to handle her to the police, the man introduced himself as the pirate Valbarossa Hawkeye, prompting the crowd to quickly disperse. Valbarossa took her to his ship, where she would end up living most of her life. Unlike most of the people she had previously known, Valbarossa and the crowd in the ship treated her with respect, and as she grew up she eventually became the pirate's wife.
When the war with the Crystals broke out, Valbarossa was asked by the army to help in the fight. When they anchored in the harbor, however, they were all promptly shot down. Vanessa and the rest of the crew who survived the ambush fled into the sea, but instead of mourning her now dead husband Vanessa decided to take up his identity, so as to ensure what he had fought for all those years wouldn't be lost.
Raiden V[]
Valbarossa was hired by Walter Erick Campbell to steal crystals from a LHC Facility in France, which she successfully did so as the Fighting Thunder was preoccupied with the Spice Birds. However, the Bellwether soon tracked the stolen crystals to her fleet. She personally contacted the Bellwether, telling Richard "Max" Maxwell that she was hired to cause them "much pain" and refused to divulge anything else.
Though initially going easy against the Bellwether (as she knew it was supposed to be fighting the contaminated weapons), Valbarossa became significantly annoyed when the Fighting Thunder severely damaged most of her ship and destroyed a majority of her fleet. She prepared to use the stolen crystals against the Fighting Thunder on her final weapon, but the crystals soon went out of control and contaminated her ship, prompting her to immediately evacuate.
The Fighting Thunder destroyed the contaminated weapon. Richard offered to take Valbarossa aboard the Bellwether, which she agreed, though he called her a male. Valbarossa promptly took off her helmet, revealing herself to be a woman. Having been defeated, Valbarossa told Richard what she knew; she had been hired by "SHIFT", and did some research behind her employer as a precaution. Since she was hired by SHIFT and had no ill will towards the Bellwether's crew, Max offered to compensate for the loss of her ship, which she accepted.
Valbarossa accompanied Max and Eshiria to the The Mother Planet, where she gave some remarks about the planet's core.

Trivia[]
The name "Valbarossa" is a corruption of Barbarossa, which is Italian for "red beard." It is a name most famously given to 12th century German Holy Emperor Frederick I by the Italians due to the color of his long beard[1].
