The Raiden (雷電)[1][2] is Main Protagonist the original fighter from the first Raiden game.
Details[]
The original Raiden fighter was built from recovered Crystal technology in 2090 in response to their initial invasion of Earth. It is the first ship made in the Fighting Thunder line. It was replaced in 2093 by the Raiden II with new weapons for the second Crystal threat[3].
Loadout[]
The Raiden uses the following weapons. Weapon names in quotes are unofficial names.
- Wide Vulcan: The Raiden uses a wide-spreading main gun to attack enemies in different directions in front of it.
- Lightning Laser: The Raiden shoots a straight powerful laser beam forward.
- Homing Missiles: The Raiden fires these as a secondary weapon.
- Nuclear Missiles: A more powerful secondary weapon for the Raiden than the Homing Missiles, it travels straight forward, moving slightly horizontally along the way. When the missiles hit a target, they explode, dealing additional secondary damage to anything else nearby.
- "Thermonuclear Bomb": The Raiden's special attack that has a delay before deploying, dealing damage over a wide area and clearing all enemy bullets after deployment.
Other names[]
- Raiden Supersonic Attack Fighter: unofficial fan name
- Fighting Thunder: Alternate name later adopted by Seibu Kaihatsu after its trademark on the name "Raiden" used in video games expired in 1994.[4]
- Vulcan Cannon: fan name for the Wide Vulcan.

Trivia[]
